BUTLER, John Jr.
Of Portage John passed away Monday afternoon, March 12, 2012 at the Laurels of Galesburg. He was born June 3, 1928 in Three Rivers, the son of John C. and LuElla Britten Butler. John was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. On August 11, 1955, he was united in marriage to Gloria L. Gearhart in Angola, Indiana. John was employed by Eaton Corp. for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed wood carving, fishing and hunting. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Gloria Butler; their two sons, Michael Dee Butler of Vicksburg and Patric Tracey Butler of Three Rivers; two grandchildren, Michele Dave Rigozzi of Bangor and Diana Butler of Three Rivers; one great-grandson, D.J. Rigozzi; three sisters, Loranne Jacobs, Rosemond Inman and Hilda Jean; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Thurlo and Carl Butler; three sisters, Marion Corey, Francis Shutes and Kathryn Gaisor; and an infant sister. Memorial services for John will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue, where friends may visit with the family from 10 am until the time of services. Interment with military honors will be at 2:30 pm on Tuesday at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial contributions may be directed to Cass County Council on Aging, Southern Care Hospice or Alzheimer's Association.
