McKee, Jennifer Cleveland RN
of Portage, Michigan Jennifer was born March 25, 1971 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Bruce and Alice Cleveland. She passed away peacefully and quietly in her home in the early morning hours of Wednesday May 7th. Jennifer graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1989. She continued her education from KVCC where she got her RN degree. She lived in California for a few years, working on some personal issues. She also worked there in a Psychiatric Hospital. Jennifer then returned home to be closer to her daughter and family. She worked in several nursing capacities during her career. She was currently employed for Bronson Home Health Services as a visiting RN. Jennifer loved her job and had just returned on April 28th from a medical leave. She had worked on Tuesday May 6 Nurse's Day and died several hours later. In the last 7 months, she experienced three critical medical emergencies and hospitalizations, which took quite a toll on her body. Even though she knew it would take a long time, she was determined to get better, but in the end her body just gave out. Jennifer loved to fish and spend time with her family at their cottage Up North at Squaw Lake. In addition to her parents, Jennifer is survived by her daughter, Emily McKee, brother Doug Cleveland, Aunt Karen Kimball, Aunt and Uncle John and Judy Leep and cousins Kendra Leep and Corey Leep, as well as her feisty cat, Mister, who was strictly a one person cat. In addition to being an animal lover, Jennifer collected medical pens and sold them on eBay. A private internment will take place with the immediate family. Visitation will take place on Tuesday May 13th from 5:30-7:00 P.M. at Lakeland Reformed Church with the memorial service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bronson Foundation/ Home Health Care Services or Kalamazoo Animal Rescue.
