Blessing, Jack Albert
Of Portage, MI Died Sunday, May 06, 2012 at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. Age 88 years. He was born in Amsterdam, Holland on January 29, 1924, the son of the late Albertus A. and Elizabeth M. Boersma Blessing. He was married to Bea Kremer on November 22, 1949; she preceded him in death on March 2, 2010. He was president of the Lakewood Public Schools School Board. He worked for H.B. Fuller, retiring in 1986. He belonged to St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Portage. Jack was a member of the Lions Club and enjoyed volunteering, camping, traveling and remodeling.Surviving are six children, Lawrence Jan Blessing of Hastings, Marcella Mark Lewis of Grand Rapids, Patricia James Sexton of Kalamazoo, Duane Sandi Blessing of Kalamazoo, Stephen Debbie Blessing of Denver, CO and Thomas Loretta Blessing of Bristol, IN; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one sister; and other family members in Holland. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald A. Blessing; and 8 brothers and sisters. Memorial mass will be held for family and friends at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2012 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre St., Portage, MI 49024.
