Ida Marie Wright, age 89, went home to with her Lord on December 18, 2020. Ida was born May 13, 1931 at Borgess Medical Center, to Lillian Marie (DuCharme) Wright and Chester John Wright, both deceased. Ida's only daughter, Lorna, is also with the Lord. Surviving are Lorna's daughter, Hailey Connell of Jackson; Ida's sister, Julia Ann (Robert) Smith and their two daughters, Dorothy Ann (Robert) Watson of Kalamazoo and Carol Mary (Ron) Watral of Alamo, Florida; and her best friend, Anne Koomans of Portage.
Ida was a member of Oakland Drive Christian Church of Portage. She taught Bird and Animal Care for Vacation Bible School. Ida was known for her wonderful soprano voice that she used while singing with different groups who sang at the Kalamazoo County Fair, Christmas Tree Lightings, nursing homes, churches, and seminars. Ida was a volunteer who cleaned up the ponds on Crosstown Parkway and was responsible for the beautification of many areas in Kalamazoo County. Ida was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
The family would like to thank the great and wonderful staff of the Amazing Grace Home for their loving care for Ida. In accordance with Ida's wishes cremation has taken place. Due to Covid concerns there will be no services at this time. A memorial service may be announced at a later date. Memorial donations in Ida's memory may be directed to Amazing Grace Home, 4441 Old Colony Road, Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
