Hazel May (May) Standiford

Hazel May Standiford passed away at her home on September 1, 2020 at the age of 92. Hazel was born in Ontario, Canada on October 19, 1927 to the late Robert and Hazel May.
Hazel married David Standiford, M.D. in 1952 and they were married until his passing in 1971. Hazel was a Registered Nurse primarily at the University of Michigan and later at the Bay Medical Care Facility in Bay City, Michigan. She was a member of the Kalamazoo Newcomers Club, the Encore Club, was a YMCA member and enjoyed volunteering her time with Hospice Care and at the Kalamazoo Airport Convention Bureau. She was a member of Pathfinder Church in Portage, Michigan. Hazel loved all sports but especially hockey. She loved cats, reading, knitting, working in her rock garden and playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dr. David Standiford and siblings: Fredda Miller, Doris Kiefer, Alvin May, Jim May and Harold May. She is survived by her children: Barbara (Richard) James, Barry (Laurie) Standiford, Ted (Connie) Standiford, Ferris (Teri) Standiford; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Hazel was a loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, and she will be dearly missed. Memorial contributions can be made in honor of Hazel to the Kalamazoo Humane Society or a Hospice of your choice.
Arrangements were entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S Ninth Street, Kalamazoo, 49009. Hazel will be laid to rest at Floral Gardens in Bay City, Michigan.
