Kalamazoo, MI George Milton Halliday, age 79, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at his home. He was born on March 23, 1936 in Kalamazoo, MI a son of Walter and Mildred Kalbe Halliday and had been a lifelong area resident. He served in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1966. George retired from Schafers Bakeries after forty years of service. He was a member of Lighthouse Community Church, the Michigan Sheriff's Association and the NRA. On March 12, 1966 George married the former Emogene Moore who preceded him in death on December 10, 1986. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter Halliday, Jr.; a sister, Louise Zirkelbach; and two brothers-in-law, James E. Moore and William Schultz. George is survived by three children, Teresa Holt Vernon Edwards of Kalamazoo, Kenneth Halliday Terry Taylor of Shelbyville and Lisa Jerome Cook of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren, Kasandra Switzer, Shelby Halliday, Donovan Halliday, James Cook, Courtney Cook and Avey Cook; four great-grandchildren, Novaley Switzer, Jadon Switzer, Gabe Edwards and Dakota Edwards; a sister, Arlene Schultz; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Rousch and Shirley Hill; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Monday, April 20th at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Services will be held 11:00 Tuesday morning, April 21st at Lighthouse Community Church, 4321 South 11th Street, with Pastor Bruce Howell officiating. Interment in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South will follow services. Memorials may be directed to Wings of Hope Hospice.
