Potts, Wright Erlene J.
Kalamazoo A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Erlene was welcomed home to Heaven, on June 19, 2013, the day she and her beloved, Bernie Potts, celebrated their 67 wedding anniversary. What a celebration this one must have been! Erlene is now in compete peace and walking the streets of gold - something she looked forward to and talked about over the years. She was born December 30, 1922 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Wilbur and Marie Sawmiller Wright. Erlene enjoyed being a homemaker and was very creative, an artist at heart. Bernie nicknamed her Clever Jane. Jane was her middle name and he always used it as a term of endearment. She loved crafting and tried her hand at many new things from cake decorating, sewing, pottery, stained glass, scrapbooking and more. She also loved her flowers and numerous rock gardens. In her twilight years she replaced rock gardening with birdhouse collecting and had a tree outback decorated with wonderful birdhouses of every color, shape and size. But one activity that stood the test of time was shopping, one of her true delights! Erlene was a longtime member of Calvary Bible Church where she gave her heart to the Lord as a young woman, the same day her beloved husband gave his heart as well. They never looked back, but trusted Jesus all their days. Erlene taught Sunday school for 11 years and she and Bernie always had a heart to support many different missionaries and mission organizations over the years, both financially and through physical help. She loved to serve. And she was faithful to pray for many in her lifetime, in her own quiet way. Erlene is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Collins and Kathy Kirk Spence; 4 grandchildren, Alisa Steve Lincoln, Joshua Wine, Kari Brent Resh and Nick Amber Gerth, and 8 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013, at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Calvary Bible Church, 855 S. Drake Road with Pastor John Barnett officiating. Interment will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Sunday, June 23, 2013, from 2-5 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Calvary Bible Church Missionary Fund.
