Eileen Stead, age 66, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at her home. She was born on July 30, 1951 in Trenton, MI the daughter of Arthur A. and Anna E. (Heusner) Stephens. Eileen retired from Vicksburg Schools where she was a special education teacher and also taught adult education classes in the evenings. In her free time she enjoyed working on sewing, quilting or needlepoint projects for her friends and family members. Eileen was preceded in death by her father, Arthur. On May 27, 1972, Eileen married William P. Stead, Jr. who survives. Also surviving are her daughter, Brooke (Alan) Beck; grandson, Liam Beck; mother, Anna; brother, Donald (Candy) Stephens; brothers- and sisters-in-law; Ross (Marty) Stead, Gary (Rita) Stead, Pam Fischer; Richard Stead and Don Ledsworth; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Friends and family will gather to remember Eileen on Sunday, September 10th from 2-6PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 Monday morning with Pastor Jim Dyke officiating. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
