Edward N. Stuut

Edward passed away peacefully Sunday, December 27, 2020 at the age of 92. He was born August 13, 1928 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of the late Robert and Anna (Schreuder) Stuut. At the young age of 17, he joined the U.S. Navy, and proudly marched in a victory parade in Sydney, Australia at the end of WWII. On June 28, 1951, he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara J. (Slater) Stuut, who preceded him in death in 2014. Edward worked in the manufacturing division of The Upjohn Company, and was honored with the Upjohn Award in 1976. He retired after 36 years. Ed and Barb enjoyed their retirement years in Gulf Shores, AL and Lakeland, FL. He was a long-time member of North Park Reformed Church. Surviving are three children, Sandie Rooseboom of Otsego, Bob (Linda) Stuut of Kalamazoo, Nancy (Mark) DeShong of Portage; seven grandchildren, Chris Rooseboom (Kathy Jager) of Nashville, TN, Tim (Jen) Rooseboom of Eugene, OR, Jessica Rooseboom (Andy Kelsey) of Plainwell, Andrea Stuut (Jeremy Bowen) of Portage, Alison (Bill) Freas of Hudsonville, Christy DeShong of Kalamazoo, Andrew DeShong (Megann Larson) of Portage; eight great-grandchildren, Nikki, Kallie, Moses, Quinn, Adam, Ben, Peyton, Isaac; and sister-in-law Donna Geiger. Edward was preceded in death by his brother Harold Stuut, sister Jeanette Seitz, grandson Michael Stuut, and special friend Gerrie Durian-Napp. A private interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
