HITCHINGS, Dorothy June
of Climax, Michigan Dorothy J. Hitchings age 86 passed away Aug. 29th 2014 in Kalamazoo Michigan. She was born March 27th 1928 to Lester and Hazel McKinney in Battle Creek Michigan. On Sept. 28th 1962 she married Merle C. Hitchings. Dorothy retired for Ralston Purina after 30 years of service. She was also a member of the C-S American Legion Post 465 for 51 years. She enjoyed gambling, dancing, camping, traveling, and was always thrilled with a new adventure. Totally devoted to her family she made it her top priority to never miss an event that her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren were involved in. She is survived by her husband Merle; daughter Ricci Danny Longman; grandchildren Sarah Jamie Smith, Darcy Simmons, Mikey Hitchings, Jamie Ben Trudeau, Dan Cobb, Bill Cobb; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; daughter Sheryll Cobb and son Mike Hitchings. Visitation will be held Friday Sept. 5th from 6-8, and services will be Saturday Sept. 6th at 11:00AM at Langeland Climax Chapel 205 East Maple St., Climax, MI 49034, 269-343-1508. Luncheon to follow at C-S American Legion Post 465. Memorials may be directed to the Haven of Rest Ministries in Battle Creek.
