Dessie was born in Magnolia, AR to Homer and Cloteel Hughes, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Louis Cheatom; her great-grandson, Jordan E. (Aubrey) Goode; her sister, Dearlene Carter and her brother, H.D. Hughes. Mrs. Cheatom is survived by her only child, Dorothy Goode; her grandson, Tony M. Goode (Sheri) and granddaughter, Jan A. Goode; great-grandsons, Domonique Goode, Brian A. Goode Cartledge, Kelsey L. Goode; great-great-granddaughters, Amirah, Akaiah & Alorna Goode, Ava M. Posada-Goode; and her great-great-grandson, Javen A. Russell. She loved gardening and had the reputation of being the "Best Hugger Around". She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, April 2 at 2:00 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 7415 Oakland Dr. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jehovah's Witness South Congregation, 7415 Oakland Drive, Portage, MI 49024.
