CLEARWATERS, David A.
of Kalamazoo Died December 14, 2011 at Bronson Hospital. David was born November 2, 1938 in Jackson, MI, a son of Raymond and Flossie Mitchell Clearwaters and had lived in Kalamazoo for most of his life. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a plumber at Kalamazoo College for 25 years. David was a family man; a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also a football fan, especially for U of M and the Detroit Lions and was an avid fisherman. David was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Clearwaters in 2009. On January 13, 1962, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Altoft, who survives. David and Carolyn would have been married for 50 years on January 13th. Also surviving are a step-son David Altoft of Kalamazoo; a son Gregory Clearwaters of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren, Chad and Crystal Clearwaters, Brandon and Shannon Jordan, Alicia Mark Moman and a great-grandson Jaiden Jordan; 2 sisters, Sandra Stacy Thompson of Mt. Pleasant and Dorothy Robert McCurley of Surprise, AZ; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate the life of David will be held at 11:00 am on January 7, 2012 at the South Side Church of the Nazarene, 752 Denway Dr. with Pastor Chris Pettit officiating. Memorial contributions in David's memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
