D.J. Rush

Rush, D.J.
Kalamazoo, MI Passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Age 89. He was born on September 12, 1924 in Melbourne, AR, the son of the late Albert and Jessie Smith Rush. He graduated from Brawley High School in Brawley, CA. He served with the United States Army during World War II. He worked for Orita Land & Cattle Company in Brawley, CA and then for the Kalamazoo City Department of Public Works. He enjoyed golf and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Detroit Tigers. He was married to Kathleen E. "Babe" Dickerman Rush; she preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Rush of Kalamazoo; one grandchild, Traci Rush of Athens, AL; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Rush of Athens, AL; two nephews, Thomas J. Karen Dickerman and Richard J. Mary Dickerman both of Kalamazoo. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Rush; one brother and two sisters. A private family graveside service will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorials may be given to North Park Reformed Church or the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
