Charles Haughey

Charles passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, in Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born February 3, 1933, in Paterson, NJ a son of Norman D. and Edna M. (Ryan) Haughey. Charles proudly served his country for over 20 years in the US Army, serving as an infantryman in Korea and Vietnam, retiring in 1973. He received numerous awards and trophies in pistol sharpshooting. Charles worked for General Foods in Battle Creek from 1973 until his retirement in 1989. He received his bachelor's degree from Western Michigan University in 1989. Charles was a member of the VFW, The Moors Golf Club and enjoyed artwork and reading. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Norman and Roger. On March 5, 1976, Charles married the former Mary Kathleen McGuire, who survives. Also surviving are a sister, Amy June (Harry) Doughtery of Battle Creek, MI; brother-in-law, Richard (Sandra) McGuire of Battle Creek, MI; sister-in-law, Sue Ellen Haughey of Battle Creek, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Private services will be held and Charles will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
