Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Caroline was born June 1, 1926 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of James A. and Grace D. Phelps McCole and passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010 in Kalamazoo. She was a long time area resident with a brief stay in Oklahoma City. She was employed for 11 years with Gilmore Bros. Greenhouse Restaurant and a member of Westwood Church of God. Caroline was a loving mother and grandmother and very proud of her large family. On June 8, 1946, she was united in marriage to John A. Clark who preceded her in death on March 20, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three children, Josephine, Kathleen and Scott and a sister Jane Maxam. Surviving are 9 children, Lizabeth Vargönen, Dennis Debbie Clark, Robert Carol Clark, Eugene Marjorie Clark, Lee Peggy Clark, Marjorie Clark Jeff Slayton, Virginia Dellinger, Thomas Julie Clark and Edward Heather Clark; 28 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and a sister, Sheila Foust. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1-4 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. A private family committal will be held in Mattawan Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials in Caroline's memory may be directed to Kalamazoo County Humane Society or SPCA.
