of Portage, Michigan Died June 17, 2014 at age 82. Carmelita was born September 2, 1931 in Kingsville, TX to the late PorFiriò and Jesusita Cantu Tamez. Attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, She loved cooking, yard work and "She loved her rose bushes". Carmelita is survived by her children, Mario Rita Cruz, Lucy Jackson, David Cruz, Cindy Cruz, Sheila Mark Cruz Woodson, Jimmy Cruz and Carmelita Cruz; 22 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; siblings, Lewis Garza, Diego Garza, Robert Garza and Rosa Neville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Maria Cruz, Son, Ricky Cruz, sisters, Margarita Garcia and Juanita Compos. Family will greet friends on Monday, June 23, 2014, from 10 - 11 am at the Langelands Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., where a funeral service will take place at 11:00 o'clock, Msgr Michael Hazard officiating and Pastor, Diego Garza will close the services. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
