Of Kalamazoo Passed away Monday morning, December 13, 2010. Betty was born November 23, 1931 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Samuel and Ricka Dykema VanderVeen. She was employed with Mead Products for over 50 years and was a member of the Kalamazoo First Church of the Nazarene. Betty also enjoyed spending time with her family and shopping. On June 29, 1957 she was united in marriage to William Pollard who preceded her in death on June 14, 1997. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ann Ritsema. Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn Ken Green, Cheryl Pollard; grandchildren, Jr., Ricky, Wally Lee, Natalie Tony, David Jennifer, and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Brennan, Aubrey, Jordan, Jaida, and Kayleena, and Kenden; 2 sisters, Sylvia Westra, Connie Badham; and several step- brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 o'clock Friday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick. Friends may meet the family from 2-4 and 6-8pm Thursday at the chapel. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association. www.langelands.com
