Bernard Zuidema

Schoolcraft Bernie passed away on Monday afternoon, December 8, 2014. He was born on March 7, 1923 in Kalamazoo, the son of Peter and Hermina Buiskool Zuidema. On June 10, 1944, Bernie was united in marriage to Marian Bachelder. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving during World War II. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Marian Zuidema; their two children, Elizabeth Louis Malito of Vicksburg and Daniel Zuidema of Schoolcraft; eleven grandchildren and spouses; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Evelyn Dratt of Allegan and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Carole Zuidema; grandson, Dominic Malito; sister, Anna Homan and brother, Henry Zuidema. A private family graveside service was held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. There will be no public visitation or service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Wings of Hope Hospice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes.
