HOWES, Barbara Ann (Barb)
Of Galesburg passed away Monday morning, November 11, 2019. Barb was born October 15, 1939 in Detroit Michigan to the late John W. and Gertrude M. (Poillion) Auch. Barb graduated from Bethany Lutheran School in 1953, Denby High School in 1957 and Valparaiso University in 1959. She had been a resident in Galesburg since 1966.
Barb worked at Taylor Lumber Company, Galesburg Pharmacy and for the last 20 years was the Office Manager of her son Rob's business, Cutters Tool & Grinding, Inc. She was a member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church since 1976. Barb enjoyed monthly Bunco gatherings, attending weekly Bible studies, and feeding the many birds around her pond and gardens. Her most treasured times included family holidays and activities.
On May 4, 1963, Barb was united in marriage to Robert M. Howes who preceded her in death on October 12, 2007.
She is survived by her children, Julie L. Howes of Galesburg and Robert J. (Karen) Howes of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Tara and Stephanie Howes and Justin and Jennifer McKeown; sister, Marilyn Kemmerling; sister-in law, Mary (Michael) Gratz; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 5-8:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 145 W Battle Creek St, Galesburg, MI 49053. A service to celebrate Barb's life will take place Friday, November 15 at 9:30 AM at the Galesburg United Methodist Church, 111 W Battle Creek St, Galesburg, with Pastor Len Davis officiating. Interment will take place in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at 11:30 AM. Those wishing to arrive separately are asked to arrive at 11:20 AM.
