Angenietha "Anita" Shoemaker

Shoemaker, Angenietha of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the age of 82. She was born July 14, 1938 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to John and Agnes (Smit) VanRavenswaay and was one of thirteen children. Anita graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1956. She then later married Charles Shoemaker, Sr. in July 1969. Almost a year passed, then they welcomed a son, Charles Shoemaker, Jr. Anita worked as a loan officer for Papermakers Credit Union until health issues arose. She was always caring for people and this role led to being a volunteer for 25 years at Directors Hall in Heritage Commuity.

Anita is survived by her son Charles (Crystal) Shoemaker; her siblings Fred VanRavenswaay, of Jacksonville, Florida, John (Sharon) VanRavenswaay, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Vincent VanRavenswaay, of West Point, Arkansas, Robert (Diane) VanRavenswaay, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Alida DeCamp, of Fort Mills, South Carolina, Timothy (Kathleen) VanRavenswaay, of Palm Coast, Florida, August (Shelly) VanRavenswaay, of 29 Palms, California, James (Susan) VanRavenswaay, of Sturgis, Michigan, and sister-in-law Georgann VanRavenswaay, of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Preceeded in death by her parents John and Agnes (Smit) VanRavenswaay, husband Charles Shoemaker, Sr., sister Victoria Brown, and brothers Gerritt, Henry, and Victor VanRavenswaay.

In accordance with Anita's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no service at this time. Condolences may be shared with family online with Langelands guestbook.
