SWARTZ, AMIEL JOHN

Amiel John Swartz, age 97, passed away November 17, 2015 in Kalamazoo. Amiel was born August 12, 1918 in Buffalo, New York, the son of Jan and Wanda (Jantosz) Niemczyk. He has been a Kalamazoo resident most of his life and had served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he served in Manila and Japan. Amiel was a graduate of Kalamazoo Central and Parsons Business College. For over 35 years he owned and operated Swartz Accounting Service, retiring in 1982. Amiel was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, the Kalamazoo Downtown Lions Club and the VFW Red Arrow Post #1527. While attending Parsons Business College he met the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Pease who he was united in marriage to on June 22, 1940. Surviving are his wife Mary Elizabeth Swartz; a sister Laura (Dan) Latowski and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Bernice Ameroso and Frank Skwarski. The family will receive friends from 10 - 11 AM on Friday, November 20th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM Friday. A private burial will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Amiel's memory may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
