Aline Sarah (Leep) Talsma, age 89, died at Vicinia Gardens on February 20, 2019. She was born August 11, 1929, in Shepherd, Montana, the daughter of Nicholas and Styne (Hoogeveen) Leep.
Aline and Martin Talsma were married on June 23, 1950. They lived a full life, traveling with the United States Army before settling in Kalamazoo in 1970 with their four children. In retirement, the couple traveled, watching and supporting their grandchildren in their various recreational endeavors. Aline had a true passion for education that showed through her love of tutoring, volunteering, reading and learning. She also enjoyed writing, publishing a book, You Said It, Lord. Aline loved being active and was often found bowling, golfing, playing tennis or volleyball. Aline was a longtime member of Centerpoint Church. She is survived by her children: Daniel (Jeannee Yermakoff), Todd (Laurie Heeter), Laurel (Roy) Brandes and Lois (Mark) Oberlin, 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and her sister Marjorie Alberda.
Aline will be interred at Fort Custer Military Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to Kalamazoo Habitat for Humanity or the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
