Albert Triemstra

TRIEMSTRA, Albert "Bert"
of Kalamazoo On Saturday, September 24, 2011, Bert went home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born December 27, 1918 in Kalamazoo, the son of Thomas and Anna Haan Triemstra and was a lifelong resident of the area. Bert graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School, served his country during WW II and had worked for Johnson-Howard Lumber Company for over 40 years. He was a charter member of Westwood Christian Reformed Church, where he served as an Elder and a Deacon. On November 20, 1946, he married Grace Sportel, who preceded him in death on August 8, 2004. Bert is survived by his children, Thomas Sally Triemstra of Kalamazoo, Pat B.J. Huizenga of Pittsburg, CA., Bruce Sally Triemstra of Portage and Gayle Phil De Vries of Wyoming, MI; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two sisters, Sinnie Marv Vlietstra and Millie Jim Mc Gee of Kalamazoo; many nieces and nephews. Following a private family committal, funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Westwood Christian Reformed Church, 620 Northampton, with Pastors Dale Slings and Bill Fernhout, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Wednesday from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be given to Westwood Christian Reformed Church Building Fund, Kalamazoo Christian School Association or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
