Albert M. Dumois, age 63 of Portage, died peacefully at home under hospice care with his wife by his side. He was born in Banes, Cuba, the son of Alfred and Ofelia (Tamayo) Dumois. After leaving everything behind and safely leaving Cuba with his family at the age of 2, Albert's family finally settled in the United States. He graduated from Rutherford High School in Rutherford, New Jersey and then received his Bachelor's Degrees in Physics and Chemical Engineering from Rutgers University. While in Delaware, Albert met Gwendolyn "Wendy" Adams at church. A beautiful friendship grew into a life together, when they were married on September 7, 1985. They moved to the Portage area in 1992, when Albert began his work as a chemical engineer for American Cyanamid. He ended his career as the site manager for Solvay in Kalamazoo. Albert had quite the sense of humor. He loved bad dad jokes and we all laughed at him laughing at his own jokes. His family includes his wife, Wendy Dumois; his children: Nicole (Jon) French, Brianne (Robert) Crittenden, Justin Dumois, and Jared Dumois; his grandchildren: Blake French and Caden French; his mother, Ofelia Dumois; his brother, Alfred E. Dumois; his sister, Isabel Dumois; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with his family on Friday, December 3rd, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo, 49009. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 4th at 11:00 AM at The Bridge, 7200 Angling Rd., Portage, MI 49024, with Pastor Jeff Wenke officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Albert may be made to the Susan Mast ALS Foundation or The Bridge Church. Please visit Albert's personalized online guestbook at
