DORKO, Albert A., Sr.
of Portage, Michigan Died November 11, 2013 at age 88. Albert was born June 9, 1925 in Barnesboro, PA to the late Andrew and Catherine Dorko. Albert was united in marriage to Dorothy Muster on November 4, 1950, for a loving 63 years together. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII, in 1943 until he was honorably discharged in 1946. Albert retired as a tool & die maker from GM after 31 ½ years. He loved the game of golf and he was an expert woodcrafter. "If it was made of wood he could fix it". Albert is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his children, Karen Richard Tyler, Thomas Lori, Richard, Michael Catherine, Joseph Sally, Albert Jr. and Brian Gina; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; siblings, Betty Arnett, Alice Plunkett, Kate Romett and Andrew Dorko; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by brothers Edward and Robert Dorko. Family will greet friends on Thursday November 14th from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave, where prayers will be recited at 7:30pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, 10:00am at St. Monica Catholic Church, 4408 S. Westnedge where Rev.Fr. Larry Farrell will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Portage South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to: Cambri's Climb, which is Al's 7 year old great granddaughter who has neuroblastoma cancer.
