Passed away Monday morning, April 11, 2022, at his home. Alan was born January 21, 1940, in Cleveland, OH the son of Alfonse and Rose (Gibbons) Isaak.
Alan dedicated his life to scholarly pursuits. He received his undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve and his master's and doctorate from Indiana University. He worked as a professor of political science for 43 years at Western Michigan University. During his long career at Western, he received numerous excellence awards and published multiple books. He was an avid book collector and reader and a fan of Cleveland sports teams.
What really made Alan special was his deep love for his family. Liz and Alan were soul mates and shared a rare love for each other that is not found very often. His pride and joy were his children and grandkids and he loved nothing more than to spend his time making up silly games and spending time with them. He was the most amazing Dad and Poppy!
On June 13, 1964, Alan was united in marriage to his loving wife of 58 years, Elizabeth (Koester) who survives. Also, surviving are his children, Eric Isaak, Greta Baker, Josh (PoWah); grandchildren, Ryne, Avery, Bailey, Nolan, and Ian; and several nieces and nephews. Alan was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Walker. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Private family interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
