Died Saturday morning November 7, 2015 at his residence. Philo was born October 15, 1931 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Philo R. and Elizabeth (Cook) Bishop. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with Western Michigan University for over 40 years before retiring. Philo was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Jacqueline L. Bishop on January 7, 1987. He is survived by 2 sons, James (Carol Mountjoy) Bishop of Chicago and Jeffrey (Robin) Bishop of Plainwell; 4 grandchildren, Joshua, Mandi, Brendan, and Angela; several great-grandchildren; and several cousins. Friends may join the family for a gathering 1-5pm Saturday at the Jeff Bishop residence, 10950 Boniface Point Drive (Pine-Lake). Private burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warriors Project or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
